I’ve been to Seattle several times in different seasons (spring, summer and winter) and with different people. My favorite time to visit is during the summer because the weather is perfect, and these are my top five favorite things to do across those trips:
1. Chihuly Garden and Glass

Why Visit:
Chihuly Garden and Glass is a beautiful museum showcasing the incredible glass sculptures of renowned artist Dale Chihuly.
Highlights:
- Walk through different themed rooms filled with Chihuly’s glass masterpieces.
- Visit at night to see the outdoor garden sculptures light up.
How to Go:
You can buy tickets there or online from the museum website. Combo tickets with nearby attractions like the Space Needle are also available. Try to visit in the late afternoon so you can experience both daylight and nighttime views!
2. Museum of Pop Culture

Why Visit:
Founded by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen in 2000, this unique museum next to the Space Needle celebrates music, movies, and all things pop culture with fun, interactive exhibits.
Highlights:
- Jam out in the hands-on area where you can play guitars, drums, or keyboards in small soundproof studios. This was my favorite part of the museum!
- Pose with costumes and props from famous movies and TV shows.
How to Go:
You can buy tickets on-site or online (buying ahead can save money).
3. Mount Rainier National Park

Why Visit:
Mount Rainier is a 14,410-ft active volcano known for its scenic hikes, alpine meadows, and glacier views.
Highlights:
- Skyline Trail → the most iconic hike (5.5-mile loop) with up-close glacier views and wildflowers from July to September. We saw marmots on the hike too!
- Reflection Lakes → a great short stop with picture perfect views of Rainier on clear days.
How to Go:
We stayed near the park in Packwood for three nights so we could do multiple hikes, but it’s also doable as a long day trip (~2.5 hours’ drive from Seattle).
4. Pike Place Market
Why Visit:
Pike Place Market is one of the most famous attractions in Seattle and the site of the first Starbucks.
Highlights:
- Sample local bites and explore the maze of quirky shops on the lower levels.
How to Go:
Pike Place Market is located in downtown Seattle, so it’s easy to reach by foot or bus from most hotels. There’s also a dedicated parking garage nearby.
5. Kerry Park

Why Visit:
Kerry Park offers the most iconic postcard view of Seattle.
Highlights:
- Visit at sunset to get the golden light on the skyline.
How to Go:
The park is about a 10-minute drive from downtown Seattle. Parking is limited, so consider taking a bus or rideshare instead.
