Singapore may be small, but itโs packed with amazing food and fun things to do. After visiting twice, these are my top five tips to help you stay comfortable and make the most of your trip.
1. Pack for the Weather
Singapore is hot and humid year-round, so pack light, breathable clothing. Rain showers are frequent too, so bring an umbrella or rain jacket. It actually rained for most of our first trip, so we only did indoor attractions. Luckily our second trip we were able to enjoy outdoor activities like the botanical garden and the zoo.
2. Fly Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines has been rated the worldโs best airline multiple times, and for good reason. Their meals are excellent (even in economy), the seats are spacious and clean, and the in-flight entertainment has a huge selection. If you can, itโs worth flying them for the experience (especially their business flights).
3. Check out Jewel while at Changi Airport
Jewel is a huge glass-domed complex connected to Changi Airport. It has shops, restaurants, and attractions like the Rain Vortex (the worldโs tallest indoor waterfall). Since itโs located before security, plan extra time at the airport if you want to explore.
4. Bring Cash for Hawker Centers
Many hawker stalls are cash-only, so itโs good to have some Singapore dollars with you. ATMs are easy to find, but itโs simpler if you bring cash ahead of time so you donโt have to hunt for one while hungry.
5. Know the Rules
Singapore is famously known as a โFine Cityโ because of its strict rules and hefty fines. Chewing gum, jaywalking, smoking in public areas, eating or drinking on public transit, or even feeding pigeons can all result in penalties. Itโs part of what keeps the city so clean and orderly, but worth keeping in mind as a visitor.
