Travel Blog Diary: Week 10 — Finally Creating a Facebook Page

Here’s what happened in the tenth week of my travel blog journey, where I created a Facebook Page and learned about Facebook monetization!

Last week I didn’t spend much time on the blog because I was deep in puzzle mode. This week was Thanksgiving so I also had limited time for the blog, but I did manage to create a Facebook page as planned. Unfortunately, explorewithalice was already taken 😭 so I had to go with explorewithaliceblog. Lesson learned: always secure your social handles before committing to a name!

Now that I have both a Facebook page and an Instagram profile, I linked the two so I can get insights in one place in Meta Business Suite. One thing I found cool about Meta Business Suite is it let’s you run A/B tests on the content, so I could run experiments in the future to learn what format works the best. I also discovered Facebook’s new monetization program that let’s you earn from engagement on Reels, longer videos, photo and text posts. It’s still in beta and invite only, but could be another revenue stream in the future.

Here’s everything else I got done this week:

Final Thoughts

I’m pleasantly surprised by Meta’s business tools, and I’m excited to see how much referral traffic the new Facebook Page can bring in. The page was really easy to set up and lets me link directly to blog posts (unlike Instagram), so I wish I had done this when I first created the blog!

Next week I plan to:

Stayed tuned for Week 11’s update!
