Travel Blog Diary: Week 24 — Is Canceled Flight Niche?
Here’s what happened in the twenty-fourth week of my travel blog journey, where I wrote about my first flight cancellation.
Last week I started seeing more impressions from Google search, which was encouraging. This week I looked into how to improve rankings and CTR. One common recommendation is targeting easier keywords, so I’m continuing the strategy of writing more niche posts. Coincidentally, I experienced my first flight cancellation due to weather this week, so I decided to turn that experience into a post. It may not be the most niche topic, but it’s something I could write about with first-hand experience.
Created IG post for Burney Falls and shared to FB.

❌ Revenue stayed flat this week.
✅ Google impressions increased by more than 200!
Final Thoughts
I’m excited to see impressions go up even more than last week. We’ll have to wait until next week to see if my canceled flight post is niche enough to bring even more impressions!

I read the canceled flight post. It is a great read, good job making something useful from that unpleasant setback.
About your question on if it is niche or not, what do you think i should search for google or bing to suggest it to me? The post is niche in some sense. Eg, Flights cancel in seattle because of snow, because seattle historically never snowed as much as it did in the last few years and the airport is not ready for it. This makes for a good storytelling, but i wonder if the rest of the post is generic advice that you can find elsewhere? On the other hand, it should be a good feeder to chatGPT for questions like “what do i do when my flight cancels due to weather?” I am sure you will have good data points next week so we will see.

I was thinking something like “flight canceled in seattle due to weather”, but agree there’s already a lot of generic advice on this and it’s unlikely to rank. We’ll see how it does in AI search with the personal experience angle.
