After last week’s detour into page speed optimization, I finally focused on growth again. Unfortunately, I tried too hard to link to the blog and got permanently banned from r/travel for self promotion!! 😳 Thankfully the Facebook travel groups I’m in aren’t as strict about links, so I still managed to get some referrals there and hit $2 in revenue this week! 💸
Setup
I’m starting to get spam comments on my posts. Maybe this is a good sign that my website is getting discovered? It’s annoying to manually delete them though, so I added shorturl.fm to disallowed comment keys since most of the spam comments were links of that form.

- Wrote about Belfast, Thailand, and Lisbon.
- Created IG post for UK, Kyoto, Vietnam, Niagara Falls and Lisbon.
Monetization
Signed up to be an Agoda Affiliate Partner. The programmatic site verification didn’t work, so I got manually verified instead.

Final Thoughts
Making my second dollar in revenue was just as exciting as the first, since it proves that the first one wasn’t a fluke! If I can continue to double revenue every month, then I’ll break even by month seven! But if I only make $1 a month, then it’ll take eight years to get there. 😂 We’ll have to wait to see which growth scenario I’m in.
For next week, my plan is to:
- Draft more guides and IG posts
- Continue sharing blog links in Facebook
- Look into how to grow on Instagram
