Travel Blog Diary: Week 26 — Impressions Drop

Here’s what happened in the twenty-sixth week of my travel blog journey, where a successful review post contrasted with an unexpected drop in overall impressions.

Last week I wrote another review post (Dig This Las Vegas Review) to replicate the success of Expendio de Maiz Review — and it worked! The Dig This post had the second most impressions on Google this week, even beating the Expendio de Maiz post (13 vs 3).

That said, overall Google impressions dropped compared to last week. I received an alert that my Carrizo Plain post had 90% fewer impressions than usual, which is likely due to seasonality of the bloom. However, the drop isn’t limited to seasonal content. My Chase Sapphire Reserve post also saw a decline (8 vs 49). It’s unclear whether this is normal fluctuation or related to Google’s recent spam update. I’ll keep monitoring next week to see if impressions recover or continue trending down.

On Bing, impressions also dropped and the Dig This post wasn’t indexed. Bing flagged an issue preventing indexing but didn’t provide any details. I resubmitted the URL for now since the post was indexed successfully on Google.

Final Thoughts

Even though I had a drop in Google impressions compared to last week, they’re still higher compared to last month so I’ve made progress overall! Hopefully Bing can fix the indexing issue and we can see how the Dig This post performs next week.
