Travel Blog Diary: Week 35 — Procrastination

Here’s what happened in the thirty-fifth week of my travel blog journey, where switching to bi-weekly updates made it a little too easy to procrastinate.

Three weeks ago I decided to switch to bi-weekly diary posts. Last week I was supposed to write an update, but I was in South Dakota for Memorial Day Weekend and didn’t have time for it. One downside of bi-weekly updates is that it’s easier to procrastinate without the diary forcing function. To make up for it, I ended up writing two posts this week after going nearly three weeks without publishing anything.

On the search side, the Arenal day trip post from three weeks ago didn’t get any search impressions. The three posts with the most search impressions in the last three weeks were Angler SF (143), SF Bay Area gardens (43), and Dig This (38). The biggest surprise was the Angler SF post. It received 100 Bing impressions with an average position of 7, suggesting it may be starting to gain traction!

Final Thoughts

Looking at the top performers, detailed review posts continue to outperform destination guides. Angler SF and Dig This are both focused on specific experiences, while broader travel guides have been slower to gain traction.

My latest posts on Stockholm and South Dakota are both broader travel topics, but I’m trying a more detailed itinerary format. It’ll be interesting to see whether these posts perform better than my previous Top 5 guides. Come back in two weeks to see how they do!
