Travel Blog Diary: Week 29 — Impressions Recovery Again

Here’s what happened in the twenty-ninth week of my travel blog journey, where my impressions recovered again and a single post saw an unexpected spike in visibility.

Last week’s dip turned out to be a natural fluctuation, as impressions bounced back again this week. The long weekend trips from SF post from last week performed well on Google and had the second most impressions (17). Bing had issues and did not index it, but interestingly the Carrizo Plains was cited 914 times.

Digging deeper, this is correlated with an increase in Bing search impressions (69) for that post. Most of them (66) actually came from a single Italian query (“carrizo plain national fioritura parco”), which translates roughly to “Carrizo Plain National Park Wildflower Bloom”.

Final Thoughts

I’m not sure what to make of the Italian query. Apparently there’s also a “superbloom” in Italy known as La Fiorita in Castelluccio di Norcia. Maybe there are some Italian travelers looking for global equivalents?

What I do know is that local-focused posts seem to bring in traffic — the two posts with the most impressions on Google this week were both local-focused. As a result, I will continue this strategy. Let’s see how the Angler review post performs next week!
